This bottle-shaped part is a hollow ceramic cover in 95% alumina: a deep rounded body with a neck opening that slips over the component it protects. The closed dome shields a sensor tip, electrode or ignition point from direct heat, splash and mechanical contact, while the ceramic wall insulates the live or hot component from everything around it.
Machined and ground from sintered 95% Al2O3, the shape is not limited by a pressing die: dome depth, neck bore, wall thickness and any side holes or slots are produced to drawing, with the neck bore held to ±0.01 mm so the cover seats squarely on its mating part.
