Zirconium oxide is called zirconium dioxide, the molecular formula ZrO2, is the main oxide of zirconium, the main minerals containing zirconium in nature are plagioclase zirconium and zirconium quartz and so on. Zirconium oxide is usually white, odourless and tasteless crystals, insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid, chemically stable, with high hardness, high melting point, high electrical resistivity, high refractive index and low coefficient of thermal expansion, it has been widely used in abrasion-resistant ceramics, refractory materials, machinery, electronics, optics, aviation and aerospace, biology, chemistry and so on, and our common artificial drills and dental implants are all made of zirconium oxide. Zirconia is the main material.


1, high hardness: the hardness of zirconia products usually up to Mohs hardness 7.5 or more, zirconia ceramics and other parts of the product hardness can be more than 9, second only to diamond. High hardness means that it has a strong wear resistance, so zirconia ceramics is a very good anti-wear material.
2, high melting point: zirconia's melting point is as high as 2715 ℃, and the chemical properties are stable, is an excellent refractory material.
3, low thermal conductivity, low coefficient of expansion: zirconia's thermal conductivity is low in common materials (1.6-2.03W/(m.k)), the coefficient of thermal expansion is close to that of metal.
