Zirconia ceramic V-groove is an important part of the fibre optic fusion splicer. Its function is to fix and support the left and right optical fibres during the fusion splicing process. It is used in ribbon optical fibre fusion splicer for fusing ribbon optical fibre, skin cable fusion splicer for fusing cladding optical fibre cables and patch cords, and bias-preserving optical fibre fusion splicer for fusing bias-preserving optical fibre, and so on.

Zirconia ceramics are commonly used in fibre optic fusion splicers for several reasons:

Low Thermal Expansion: 

Zirconia ceramics have a low coefficient of thermal expansion, which means it does not expand significantly at high temperatures. This property ensures that the fusion splicer maintains a stable structure during the splicing process.

    Zirconia ceramics can withstand high temperatures, making them suitable for use as heating elements in fusion splicing machines.

  • Excellent electrical insulation: 

    Zirconia ceramics are an electrically insulating material that prevents any unwanted currents from interfering with the fusion process.

  • High mechanical strength: 

    Zirconia ceramics have a high strength-to-weight ratio, making them the perfect material for components that need to be subjected to mechanical stress during the fusion splicing process of optical fibres.

Zirconia ceramics provide the mechanical strength, thermal stability, electrical insulation and chemical resistance required for efficient and reliable fibre optic fusion splicing.

Our Processing accuracy:
(1) shaft: roundness 0.002 mm, concentricity 0.002 mm, finish Ra0.1 ;
(2) Hole: minimum processing hole diameter 0.2 mm, depth up to 6 mm (depending on the material);
(3) groove (seam): minimum processing 0.1mm narrow groove, as well as a variety of shapes of the groove;
(4) plane: the minimum thickness of 0.1MM sheet can be processed, parallelism 0.001mm, measurement tolerance 0.001 mm, finish Ra0.1;
(5) Thread: the minimum can be processed M2 internal thread, precision GB-7h, external thread size is not limited, precision GB-6g.
